Great news: we now meet on Wednesdays to study at a new beautiful location!

Hello to all the members of the Brooklyn Speed Chess Meetup Group and the BTL team from the Commercial Chess League and all the other friends,

this is Simon- I'm the organizer of the meetup group and the captain of the league team, you might have played some chess with me before. I have some exciting news for you- we have been contacted by the owner of the beautiful Two Moon Art House& Cafe in Park Slope, who offered us their gallery and patio space for our group use. And on top of that, they want to give us a perk- free baked goodies when you purchase a coffee drink (they have a great selection of teas, wines and beers as well, and their baked goods are delicious!). By the way, the perk can also be used by group members at times other than the chess group meetings- so all the group members from the neighborhood should go there as often as possible.

So, the plan now is to hold regular meetings on Wednesdays at Two Moon now. The idea for Wednesday meetings is to study/analyze games rather than play speed games (we'll keep doing that on Fridays in the Tea Lounge). We've had these conversations among us many times before about how we need to be more consistent and disciplined in this area and by having regular repetitive sessions like this, where we'll talk together about positions from our own games and from books/ grandmaster games, we'll have a chance to learn something to play better later. We may organize some mini-tournaments in the future as well. I would recommend it to everyone to make use of this opportunity, bring their own ideas, but especially to the players who are on the team roster in the league- we have a few months before the new season starts, it's good to get ready. Also, everyone who is not a team member in the league but is interested in joining- please do show up because we're always interested in recruiting new players to the team.

It would be helpful if you used the RSVP tool on the meetup website when you plan on coming to this session (I know none of you do when you go to the Tea Lounge), so the Two Moon staff will have an idea how much space is needed to be reserved for us. So, please do it- if you are a team member but not a meetup group member, go here and sign up, it takes no time.

The Two Moon owners have been very friendly and generous to us- please make sure you support them by buying something, their menu is delicious and not expensive.

If you are coming to a session and there is something specific you want to study/look at, let me know in advance , so I and other players will prepare something in that area. Also, any other ideas regarding the meetings are more than welcome, don't hesitate to contact me with them.

Hope to see you at the Two Moon soon!

Best Regards

Simon
