I am Hugo Espinel, the organizer of the group.
I am sorry that I have not very communicative but, finally, here I am.
Firstly I want to thank you for being part of the club.
As you know we meet every Friday at the Tea Lounge on Union Street in Park Slope.
I really want to encourage the people who have not gone to
play to show up and have some fun. Again, even though there is the
"speed" word, we are not competitive at all. Anyone is welcome.
The group is pretty flexible about everything. If some people want to start to meet to play regular chess, that is perfectly fine. Please
start to communicate with each other and Simon and I can help you out in doing that.
What about meeting another day of the week for the ones who cannot make it on Fridays ? Would anyone be interested in that?
In any case please come--whatever you level--let's start this fall
properly playing some chess.
There is actually something else I want to tell you. There is a TV pilot being produced and they have asked us for our help. They have a myspace site where you can find more information; here is the link:
It sounds like a good way to promote chess so some of us are doing it and hopefully some more of you will join us.
They are going to shoot September the 10th, basically what they
want is to have some chess players on camera. It does not seem
very complicated. As long as you know how to move the pieces that should be enough. Please let me know if you can make it as soon as possible so we can let the TV show people know.
Thank you again and I hope we can play some chess soon.
