Paying The Bill

Paying The Bill
CDO understands that the economy is not so great these days, and that many of you are on a budget. However, we will (for smaller dinners) likely split the food bill in these cases. Again, you are on your own for the drink bill. So, if you have a specific budget like $20 or $30 etc., and you are unsure whether you'll be able to afford the dinner, please contact the organizer. Based on the type of cuisine and it's location, you get a whole range of prices. Middle Eastern food is much cheaper than something like French or Italian. Buffets tend to be cheaper than ordering off the menu. Separate checks are sometimes possible, but the organizer needs to know this ahead of time. Separate checks mixed in with a splitting of the rest of the bill complicates things. Keep in mind that we will typically add in %30 on top of the base food cost to handle tax and tip. If you are unsure how to do the math, CDO has handy charts that you can bring to the dinner. There is usually a $1 fee as well. It's typical that a dinner will involve both appetizers and entrees (and sometimes dessert). The prices for these items usually exist on the restaurant's website or sites like Metromix and Yelp if they are listed there. That will help you budget for the dinner.

When paying the bill, of course, the goal is that the collection either meets or exceeds the needed amount to pay the bill. Please put in your fair share! especially on the drink bill. Tax and tip still applies to bottles of wine, wine, beer and soda. It is unfair for some generous people to put in extra for others who don't put in enough.
