Yarncon is back! And this year, it's a two-day event.
For those who are new to the Yarncon experience, YarnCon is Chicago's own yarn-centric exhibition -- a place to promote, sell, and celebrate the yarny arts. There will be vendors galore selling yarn, needles, notions, and more. They also offer classes for those looking to pick up a new skill.
Doors open at 11am on Saturday and close at 7pm. Sunday's hours are 11am to 4pm. (For more Yarncon details, check out Yarncon.com.)
CKU will have it's very own booth, and as usual we'll be selling our mystery bags! We collect any unwanted yarn and needles all year 'round as donations for the mystery bags (think of it as a great way to stashdown!). So if you have any you'd like to donate, feel free to bring it to a meetup or to the CKU Yarn Swap (date tba). Any donations after the yarn swap will go towards next year's crop.
Since it's a two-day event, we need help running our table -- we're looking for volunteers to do 1-hour shifts. You'll be talking about and promoting our meetup group, helping to sell our items, and of course, knitting when there is downtime!
This isn't like a regular meetup, when you RSVP "Yes" please let us know what one-hour shift you'll be able to help out at our table. If you are volunteering Saturday, RSVP to the Saturday meetup. If you are volunteering Sundy, RSVP to Sunday's meetup.
If you can't help man the booth, we totally understand. We still hope you'll stop by to say hi!
By the way, we will not be collecting the $1 meetup fee, and admission to YarnCon is free!
