I read the American Girl books when I was young and was interested in the idea of young girls learning handicrafts back in the 1700s and 1800s. I wanted to be just like Felicity, one of the characters from the books, so I asked my mom to help me learn to needlepoint, knit, and crochet.
I learned initially from a book because I didn't know anyone who knitted. When I got older, I met a few people and asked them for help here and there. I really started to become a crazy knitter in college when I finally found people my age who knitted also and who could teach me all kinds of skills.
Over 15 years and loving it!
I'm a young professional who just moved to Chicago and loves knitting and crocheting! I can't wait to meet new people in the city who are also addicted. (Look me up on Ravelry as artohline)
