Structuring an application

4/2 Update:

ThoughtWorks has offered to host.  Date is set for 4/18.

Update:

I can show you how I added MVC to a legacy WebForms app, pushed down EntityFramework to the data tier, separated my business logic, and wired the various components together with Unity, MEF, and AutoMapper.  This is just one way, so I'd love some feedback and to hear how you organize your code.  I still need a location, so is there anyone able to volunteer their conference room?

Original:

The last meetup identified a potential discussion topic: how to structure an application. To talk about things like Separation of concerns, Tiers/layers, Where things like dependency injection containers, automapper, and entity framework fit in... To be scheduled only if there's enough interest. A venue is also needed.

Alfred mentioned really important things that come up when you need to face some legacy code. Some ideas were brand new and the environment was really cheerful. Thanks guys! Definitely looking forward for ongoing meetups!

I appreciated the meeting. I hadn't learned enough about AutoMapper to get an idea for the more complicated stuff you can do with it. Same goes for MEF. Seeing those 2 technologies was worth going, now I'll be on the lookout for opportunities to use them.

Presenter was clearly uncomfortable and inexperienced at presenting but he heroically soldiered through it. Frankly I salvaged the experience by Googling the tools he was presenting on my phone and taking it as an opportunity to do some research.
