What is Duckon?

DucKon is Chicago’s annual family-friendly science fiction and fantasy convention, held in support of the Golden Duck Awards for excellence in children’s science fiction literature given at WorldCon. We’ve got something for everyone, from our fabulous Young Fan programming, science and literature panels, writer’s workshops and more. We run special events like Critter Crunch, Planet Blinkie where you can create your own circuit board with flashing LEDs, and the longest running original Klingon programming of any convention in the country. You can even watch electricity turn into music with the Masters of Lightning! We pride ourselves on being a family friendly convention with fun things to do for people of all ages and interests.

Met a lot of old friends, and a few new people, didn't get a chance to recognize all the people I met, and vice-versa. I had fun working the Con. Went to opening ceremonies for first time since 1962. There were some excellent musical performers, and I bought a pair of their DVDs, but, tho there was a room dedicated to filk-singing, either it was closed or empty. Disappointed about lack of masquerade and no listing of movies or anime available. Pocket program was late, finally arrived Saturday. Hotel staff was polite and helpful, but their 'free' wi-fi was garbage. After a while, it kept diverting my web pages to the hotel home page.

Okay, so now all we have to do is figure out how to privately exchange cell #'s so we can coordinate. Clues anyone? Kim

I'll be there on Thursday, to help set up the art show. I haven't checked the schedule lately, but I'll be there all weekend. Maybe someone can give me a lift home Sunday afternoon, to glorious downtown Skokie. See you at the Capricon table, Leane.

I'll be at Duckon all weekend. I'll be helping with the Capricon party on Friday night and will be at the Capricon fan table most of Saturday and Sunday. Stop by and ask for me and I'll give you a ribbon for your badge.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
