This month: Zombies & Cell Biology!
After a long hiatus the series is back!
In this monthly series, scientists present different scientific topics to the general public in a laid back fashion.
You definitely don't want to miss this month's presentation:
Zombies & Cell Biology
(When science and fiction meet)
Cells are the basic building blocks of all organisms, including humans. But what do cells look like? What's in a cell? And how could these cells be co-opted and turn us into flesh eating zombies?
Learn about cells through the images of electron microscopy and the hypothetical cellular horror of a zombie outbreak.
Lecture and discussion moderated by Dr. Joe Austin, director of electron microscopy, University of Chicago.
The presentations are given in Layne Jackson's Art Shop (http://laynejackson.com/).
The gallery is next to the Division blue line stop, and also accessible by the Ashland (#9) and Division (#70) buses. Some street parking is available.
Delicious food from the vegan food truck will be available to buy, as well as cheap cash bar.
The presentation will be 8-9 pm.
We hope you will join us!
Please post the event on your wall and invite others.
