Very nice day - weather perfect for diving, sunny, warm, 1ft. waves. Visibility medium to good. Temperature 50F on the Mack and 60F on the Wells Burt which is nice for Lake Michigan.

If anyone wants to carpool from southwestern suburbs, let me know. I'm in Naperville so my natural route is I-55 all the way in.

Dear all - welcome to the charter! A few things:
    1. I'll be in Russia Aug. 18-23 but I should be able to read email ([masked]).
    2. You can pay me via Pay Pal, or email me for my mailing address to send a check.
    3. Captain Jim generally suggests the wrecks based on conditions but he's also happy to hear suggestions. One good pairing is the Straits of Mac (70 feet) and the Wells Burt (30 feet). These are great wrecks! If you want to see some photos of both, send me email.
    4. If you have not dived colder water before, I strongly recommend a practice dive at someplace like Haigh Quarry to make sure you have your weighting right for a 7 mm wetsuit. I'd be happy to do this on the afternoon of August 11; just email me.

Hi all. When I set this up I didn't provide explicit directions for getting to the dock. The captains directions are here and you want to zoom in and switch to satellite mode: http://www.windycitydiving.net/harbor/burnham-harbor

Basically you go down the boulevard that runs out to Adler and then turn right on Linn White Drive which goes towards Northerly Island. You can park to drop off stuff in the little lot just east of the sailboats visible in the satellite photos. There should be carts by the dock to haul your stuff down. Then you have to repark in the planetarium lot. It's about $20 or more, so carpooling is a smart move if it's easy.

    Enjoy your dives!

I just dove with captain Jim Saturday. There is a big lot closed sign that points south from the Adler lot--which is where you'll come from after dropping your stuff. Don't let it fool you. The lot is open. The woman said they just point it that way since no one comes from the south, but when you do, it's kind of confusing. When I was there there was an early bird rate of $11.

So I totally forgot I had a friend coming to town that weekend so I am not going to be able to make it. :(. I see there are some people on the wait list so does anyone want my spot? I'm not sure how it works in terms of order.

    • Chris J.

Hi Emily - yup, that works!

Great! Then David is all paid up. Hope you guys have fun and sorry I won't make it!

I double-checked with Captain Jim and we can have 6 people on the trip, so I approved the next two on the waiting list.

Hi, I'm RSVP'd yes and want to go, but hoping someone can answer a dumb question. I mostly dive in warm water.it seems a shame to not do kcal diving. I have a 7mm wetsuit. Will that be enough??
