Where did you find out about the Chicago Scuba Meetup Group?

I encountered CSM members 3 years ago at Haigh Quarry. I was picnicking with my former dive club and was stationed at an adjacent tent. I liked the raw enthusiam and commitment to local diving of CSM members and wanted to join a more dynamic group.

If you are a diver, what is the best dive experience you have ever had?

Encountering a young silver marlin at my safety stop off the coast of Rangiroa Atoll, Tahiti, 2005, a 12-foot hammerhead off of Blue Corner, Palau and 9-foot Silver-tip shark, huge mantas and dolphins all in one dive at Tikihau Pass, Tahiti.

Why did you join the Chicago Scuba Meetup?

I wanted to explore the underwater environments and wreaks of the Great Lakes with people equally fascinated by the beauty and power of this giant glacial pond in my front yard.

If you are a diver, where have you dived?

Brazil, Boston, Chicago, Milwaukee, Palau, Truk Lagoon, Key Largo, Tahiti, Indonesia

Are you certified? If so, when were you certified? How many dives have you logged?

I was trained by the incomparable, husband & wife team of Elsie and Pedro Orabona of Omnimare Water Sporrts in Ubatuba, Brazil. Over 250 dives.

Introduction

I love complex [eco-] systems such as rain forests and tropical reefs because they contain a myriad of interactions, some friendly, some hostile, between animal and plant species whose survival depends on the equilibrium of the system as a whole.

What Daniel B. is saying about this Meetup Group

Again, my sincerest apologies to all CSMers for not handling the organization of this event well. It wasn't technically a CSM event and I was attempting to pawn off two remaining slots from a dive shop, which organized the event. This won't happen again.
