The Northerly Island survey project is in need of more volunteers for August 13th. They have special need for shore support in the form of bubble watchers and information booth help. They could also use a backup divers. This project is surveying the bottom and taking soil samples around Northerly Island for a proposed new park area, plus underwater preserve, around Northerly Island. Below is the most recent information on the Saturday event. To volunteer, please contact Margo Miller of the Illinois Council of Skin and Scuba Divers. Her email is below.
"We had bad weather on July 23rd, no diving took place. So we will try again on August 13th.to complete the survey project. Everyone should park in the
lot South of the old terminal, I have parking passes to be placed in your windshields from Bob Foster.
All equipment or persons shall be transferred at the fishing dock directly West of the field house, you can tie your boat up there it is across from the boat launch. We will have an 8:00am start in the water. There will have a canopy for an information booth, communications and first aid. Drinks will be available there to keep you hydrated. Also shore help may want to wear swimming gear under their cloths so that they may enter the water to cool off if necessary. All data gathered will be transferred in the building and pizza and pop will be provided by the Council. We should be done by noon. Thanks for all the support."
Thank You!!! Margo Miller, President
