In light of the 23rd annual International Coastal
Cleanup on Sept 20, 2008, there are several volunteer
cleanup events happening in the Chicago area. At
least three of them are highlighted on CSM's calendar
event (there may be more that I'm not aware of). This
is the largest event of its kind, bringing together
over 375,000 people around the world to clean up local
beaches and shorelines. If you have ever asked what
you could do to help clean up the (local Great Lakes)
waters we, as divers, all enjoy, check out the three
events and act accordingly! Some of them even involve
scuba diving!

Event 1 - Dempster/Greenwood St beach cleanup
Event 2 - International Coastal Cleanup - Shedd
Event 3 - 8th Annual Burnham Harbor cleanup

Check out the CSM calendar for more events.
