A big shout out to Clarissa Peterson for a terrific presentation on responsive design in February. Clarissa's slide set from the presentation is here:

Join us March 12 for an indepth look at Twitter Bootstrap with Tim Palac. If you are interested in how "frameworks" can assist your design/development process, you'll learn a lot about Bootstrap. Tim will cover his work method:

  • Content strategy
  • Sketching for responsive behaviors
  • Customizing a framework to your grid
  • Theming for colors and fonts
  • Picking a good base layout for your design
  • Adding images and a repeating background
  • CSS3 gradients
  • Adding your own re-usable styles as the site grows
  • Testing on various screen sizes and altering the way elements are resized by default
  • Editing pre-existing media queries for more flexibility
  • Plugins and Wordpress integration

BooCoo has a menu for the Chicago Web Pros. that includes simple and tasty sandwiches and drink, so come hungry if you like. Weather might be fine by March (or we could get the famed Chicago last blast!)

Happy February,
Steve Starr, Organizer, Chicago Web Professionals

Very comprehensive overview of Twitter Bootstrap... thank you Tim! For me, it looks like a good tool that bridges a gap between design and development.
