Wordpress Hackathon - Part One

Our meetup group is partnering with C3 (Chicago Creative Coaltion) to redesign and develop their website. We are planning a hackathon in four parts. Think of this as a "web raising," where our two communities come together to build a new chicagocreative.org website.

Chicago Web Professionals and Chicago Creative Coalition will collaborate in a series of four hands-on, roll-up-your sleeves interactive sessions. This is an opportunity to work side-by-side with Marketing, Design, Information Architecture, Programming and Production Artists in a focused effort that will culminate in a new website for C3.

Program One
Web Strategy and Planning
This will be the first of a 4 part series
This session is sponsored by C3. The project is started through information gathering, strategy creation, and planning. Ideas from this session will be used to form wireframes to define the site structure. Come to observe, learn and participate. See how others create strategy and contribute your own wisdom!

The Chicago Creative Coalition (C3) is a not for profit organization dedicated to supporting the professional growth of its members–creatives in the communication arts fields (chicagocreative.org). This is our opportunity to be exposed to people in a variety of web-related disciplines—for networking, service and learning. You can pick and choose which of the events you'd like to be involved with. Hopefully, you'll be interested enough to attend them all.

More oriented to the C3 group and C3 interests. Little information pertinent to actual Internet development, although the concepts involved in creating a C3 site do apply to developing a personal site.

Interesting but dull. I was ready to get there and get to work at 6 pm. Things moved slower and were less active than I envisioned. Strategy and Goals are a necessary part of the process, but with so many involved in the Q&A, it went on too long.

Jeff London and Mike Tanimura did a masterful job of facilitating the evening. There were a lot of ideas put out on the table and overall, I think we have the groundwork for a good start. Out of chaos emerges great creativity! Many thanks to the Web Pros. who listened and contributed to the process!

Henry

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
