Code.org: Bringing Computer Science classes to every K-12 school in the US

Topic Abstract:
Through it's three main initiatives, Celebrate, Advocate and Educate, Code.org is working to bring computer science classes into every K-12 school in the United States.  This talk will cover the successes of the organization over the past year and focus on the district partnership model being piloted across the country in the 14-15 school year and plans for future growth.

Bio sketch of speaker:
Jake Baskin is the District Outreach Program Manager for Code.org working to bring a comprehensive CS education program to districts like Chicago.  Prior to this Jake taught CS at the Chicago Public Schools at Lindblom Math and Science Academy and led professional development for CPS Computer Science teachers.  Jake has also worked with Code.org's curriculum team to create a course for the new AP Computer Science Principles course.

    lots of discussion on how to get young 'uns interested in CS, actually more on problem solving skills. Many attendees shared their own experiences from HS to grad school as to who inspired them to plunge into CS.
