We wanted to take a minute today to give you a little background about the holiday party coming up next week. You may have heard about a severely neglected pit bull, that was later named Patrick (because of being found on St. Patrick's Day), that was found near death after being thrown down a trash chute in New Jersey. Patrick's story has touched countless people (Josie and I included).
One person was so touched by Patrick's story that she began working to help struggling families that are relying on food pantries to help them survive. The purpose of Patrick's Pantry is to promote awareness of the importance of donating pet food to local food pantries. Working as a one woman show, Catherine has made an incredible difference. Not only has she donated much needed food to local pantries, she has purchased raw materials, and made much needed bedding for shelter dogs. The Ugly Sweater Holiday Playdate and Food Drive is our effort to help the cause of Patrick's Pantry. We will be collecting unopen bags and cans of dog food, as well as other extra items that can be useful (such as collars, leashes, or other useful items in good condition). Even if you are unable to attend the event and want to make a donation, contact us at 773.383.DOGS (3647) and we can coordinate a time to drop off the items. THIS EVENT IS NOT A FUNDRAISER TO RAISE MONEY. This event is to collect food and other items that are in need in our community. Also, 50% of all money from the cost of attending this event will directly purchase much needed pet food to be donated as well.
