I count several cats among my forever-best friends. In fact, one is snoozing on my lap as I type this.
In 1997 I attended a two-day conference at the Anti-Cruelty Society that was co-sponsored by Alley Cat Allies. I am also interested in helping with adoption efforts. Finally, I have done a lot of political organizing and can help with feral issues.
I would like to help with TNR and/or colony maintenance in the Lincoln Park/Lakeview area. I am new to Chicago and am not familiar with the feral situation here.
I trapped a mother and five kittens in my back yard when I lived in Northern Michigan with the intent of TNR. As it turns out, all were adoptable and found homes.
I spent 2 weeks in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and did some rescue feeding there. I have not been involved with an established colony feeding program.
We need to get feral cat caregivers in Chicagoland organized so that we can build public awareness and support and spread the load of colony maintenance.

Welcome to Chicago and to CSM;
Keep an eye on the posts for meeting info, and any upcoming dives. if you don't see anything you like, feel free to post and leave enough time for a response.
In the summer, we often meet a Haigh Quarry near Kankakee, great quarry diveing. There are charters on the big lake also, as well as monthly meetings. Members have a wide range of experience, come out and share your experience and knowlege.
