What do you hope to get out of Chicago Freelancer's Happy Hours?

I'm looking to bond with other professionals in my field for advice and growth. I have been a bit scared to venture out of my comfort zone and network with others. This is a perfect start. I'm also unemployed without a degree, and am looking for professional advice on how to get a tech job without a degree (which I know is hard).

What is your specialty that allows you to freelance?

How long have you been freelancing for?

I've been into computer programming since I was very young. At the age of 8, acquired my very own Apple 2c as a Christmas gift and started with the BASIC programming language. From there, I grew to love Windows 3.11 in grammar school, then subsequent iterations of OS's. I got into database development with Microsoft Access 97 (lol) and inherently got involved with Visual Basic. I attended DeVry Institute immediately after I graduated H.S. in July 1995 and took up Business Information Systems. I have yet to finish. :( Since then, however, I've gotten more into Graphic Design and Web Development keeping informed about newer technologies and frameworks.

Favorite way to get work, and what's your favorite poison (bvg)?

I love Dreamweaver, Eclipse, and Notepad++. My poison of choice is a Dirty Martini.

I am a budding freelance graphic designer and web developer who enjoys creating beautifully crafted marketing materials. My skills include HTML, JavaScript, MySQL, PHP, WordPress, and JQuery. OMG.. does this mean I'm a geek now?!
