Get Carded!

It's time to Get Carded again! The Games with Cards meetup has been renamed Get Carded! With this event we'll also be tentatively scheduling this for the second Wednesday of each month. So let's Get Carded!

Are you a fan of games like Dominion, Ascension, and other deck-building games? Perhaps you prefer the customization of games like Android: Netrunner, Magic: The Gathering, or the Lord of the Rings Card Game? Or maybe you prefer other games using standard or non-standard decks of cards like Euchre, Tichu, Citadels, and Coup? Then this is the meetup for you! We'll be playing any and all of these and whatever other games people want to play. While we will be combining this meetup with a Magic: The Gathering meetup that is not the focus of this meetup. People who are interested in learning how to play MTG will have the opportunity if there is enough support for it.

Some other examples of games we've played in the past include Cards Against Humanity, Thunderstone: Advance, The Resistance, and Shadows Over Camelot: The Card Game.

We will be meeting at the Bad Dog Tavern in Lincoln Square near the Western brown line stop. Hope to see you there!

With this much notice I'd better be able to make it...and hoping to at least get there in time to watch a last game

I'd be interested in eminent domain or nightfall. I was hoping to bring Space Hulk: Death Angel, which I've had for a long time but never played.

Haven't played Nightfall in person yet (only played the iOS app), but think it'd be fun. I'll bring it along.

Any requests for tonight? I own the following "deck-building" games: Dominion, Thunderstone/Advance, Penny Arcade Deck Building Game, Nightfall, Star Trek: TNG Deck building game. I know Ascension will also be there. I also have Eminent Domain which I haven't played yet, but that is a little different than a "classic" deckbuilder. Eminent domain has an expansion on Kickstarter that ends tonight at 11 PM CDT, so that may be worth looking into. I'll definitely still bring some other stuff like what I listed in my earlier comment. If people are interested I'll be bringing my Game of Thrones card game, which supports up to 4, as well. I own a bunch of other games as well, so if there's something else you're interested in I may have it, just let me know.

Out of the people coming now, can you say what games you will be hoping to play/bringin?

I'll definitely bring a few "smaller" games like Cards Against Humanity, Coup, Shadows Over Camelot: The Card Game, and Resistance: Avalon. I'll also probably bring some kind of deck builder (often Dominion but can be something else) and maybe something like Seasons or Eminent Domain. I also have some decks for MTG, Android: Netrunner, A Game of Thrones, and Star Wars LCG, but playing those will depend on how many people we get (and if breaking off into some those kinds of games makes sense).

And by "smaller" games, I just meant actually physically small boxes and maybe slightly more "light-weight" than some other games. =) In any case, did you have any requests? I have a bunch of other games including some other deckbuilders as well (Penny Arcade, Nightfall, Thunderstone), though Dominion is usually just the most universal/easiest to play.

I'm really wanting to make it but there's something else going on this night. I want to bring the new Shadowfist Kickstarter edition and teach people how to play the best multiplayer card game ever!

I'd never heard of it before, but after looking it up at BGG it seems interesting. I see some "starter decks" but after getting those is it still CCG-like (randomized packs)?

It used to be a CCG, recently Kickstarted into an LCG. So fixed rarity expansions, fixed rarity starter decks. However there is still a healthy amount of old cards out there so you have the option of introducing the randomness into the game too.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
