What’s this meetup about?
We’re a small group of gamers who get together once a month to play board games for a few hours. Sunday has worked best as far as day where we’re able to shirk normal responsibilities for a time. Yes, I know it’s football season, but it’s worth it.
What’s a Thematic Game?
Mostly what this means is we like games that tell a story. A broad definition is a game where the mechanics of the game are in service to the theme. This distinction is made generally in contrast to a Euro game, where the mechanics are most important.
OK, sounds interesting.
We definitely would love to have new faces at the table. The one thing we ask is to try to RSVP ahead of time. We attempt to plan games that we are going to be playing, and one extra player can throw those plans for a loop, but we’ll try to make it work. Hopefully we get enough people interested where we don't have to worry about this.
We’ll be playing in the back room of the store, typically at one of the low tables. Look for a sign that says Thematic Games Meetup.
I haven’t played X game / I’d like to play Y game
We’re willing to teach or learn. If you’d like to get something to the table, suggest it in the comments!
