Second City Board Game Night

Come join us for a Game Night party at Chicago's Second City Training Center! On the third Friday of every month, we'll be hosting a night of board games and party games with a fun-loving bunch of gamers and improvisers. You're invited to come learn some new games and bring copies of your favorite games to teach and share with old and new friends!

The Game Party runs from 6 to midnight! Afterward everyone is welcome to watch any midnight shows that might be running on those nights. Admission to the game night is free. Just bring your smiles and any games you'd love to play!

This meetup will be held at the Second City Training Center, in Piper's Alley on the corner of North and Wells. Head to the Training Center desk on the fourth floor and they'll show you to the party!

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us last night! I hope you had a great time. That goes doubly for the bunch who joined us for the Midnight Melt!

Hey this is my first time coming, seems like some folks are bringing their own games. Anyone have interest in Smash Up, or Kings of Tokyo? Was thinking of bringing one of those along with me.

    • Alyssa

I love both of those games!

      First time as well.

If people might be interested, I'm bringing the improv storygame Fiasco: http://www.bullypulpitgames.com/games/fiasco/

It seems like a good game and I'm excited to play it. Are you going to be there at 6?

      July 18, 2014

    • Samwise C.

I'm hoping to be there between 6:30 and 7:00

    Hi!,

What kind of games are usually being played? More party games? Anything a bit heavier? Euro's?

Thanks Neil, but the baby is a bit sick today so no way i can make it. Maybe next time.

Yeah, that's a priority. Hope the little one recovers easily.

I'm bringing some fun/quick to learn games: Rumble in the Dungeon, Superfight, Ultimate Werewolf, The Resistance, and Love Letter. I have two questions though. Is this place BYOB? And are there already games at this place or is it a BYOGames type of situation? What is everyone else bringing? I'm excited!

Besides Fiasco, I have the story telling party game "Story Wars." Also "Compounded" a game about Chemistry! Think Lords of Waterdeep but with elements rather than adventurers..

    • Adrienne

Yay for Compounded! I'm bringing Pandemic, Machine of Death, and Tammany Hall. Maybe Small World too.

    What's parking like????

    July 16, 2014

  • Neil F.

Hi Gerry, I wrote about parking in a previous comment, but the most important thing is DON'T park in the Piper's Alley parking lot. I've heard that lot charges $27 per hour.

We'll be in room 304! If you need help finding it, head up to the training center office on the fourth floor and the staff will be able to point you in the right direction!

Folks have been asking about the show! It's called The Midnight Melt and it will be free to attend.

    July 13, 2014

  • Wensi C.

Thanks Neil, I may take public transit instead! Look forward to everyone there!

    July 10, 2014

  • Neil F.

There are many places to eat nearby, fast food and sit down restaurants.

    July 9, 2014

  • Neil F.

Hey Wensi, there's one very important note about parking:don't park in the Piper's Alley lot, which is exorbitantly priced. There's some street parking available as long as you watch the signs. Many students will park in the Treasure Island parking lot across the street, which is a flat $10.

    July 9, 2014

  • Wensi C.

How is parking? Are there nearby places to get something to eat beforehand? (Since I'm assuming no food allowed)

    July 9, 2014

  • Neil F.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about location, parking, etc!
