Ground Floor Inventor's Club of Chicago October Gathering

Greetings And Salutations Inventors, Tinkerers, ToyMakers And The Greatly Curious!

Scrool down for directions and read all this stuff later.

Come out for a discussion of inventions, ideas, design concepts, brainstorms, visions, braindrizzles, sudden inspirations and interactive realizations. We may get into some discussion of patents, trademarks and maybe some wow-I-could-of-thought-of-that's! The night will include talking about getting prototypes made, finding sources for materials, comparing manufacturing processes, finding manufacturers, searching for helps and so on. You could receive some coaching on what to share and what not to tell about your invention, and why. Every month is different! Sometimes an inventor brings something to show or demonstrate. We usually do a brainstorming session to develop one good idea towards being a new product design. But sometimes we can't come up with even one good idea. We have two-and-a-half patent lawyers that visit us sometimes. All are welcome! You don't need an invention or a patent or nothing. Not even an idea. All come! Note to any engineers--you can come if you promise to behave yourself.

We've really bounced around location-wise, originally meeting at the Ground Floor Entrepreneur Center of Chicago on North Avenue. They're now gone/defunct, but the building is still there and the guy that started is still around abd about. What a character! But i digress. Then Border's Books for a while. The a patent law firm on north LaSalle until our sponsor there got a job at the USPTO. Then another attorney's conference room on south Jefferson.

But now it looks like we've settled into a new permanent home. We're going to be at the Independence Tap, a tavern, one of my favorite watering holes. Proprietor and bartender is my freind George. We'll be in their back room. Full bar but a lttle limited on the bar food. Noisy but a good atmospere. It's under 30 minutes north of downtown by car, and near the Blue Line, walking distance.

DETAILS--

ON FOOT--

Blue Line to Irving/Pulaski, walk northwest on the platform, descend to the sidewalk, turn right, walk east past the Walgreens, and cross both streets to the Mobil station. Continue east past the Mobil to Harding Street and be welcomed into the Independence Tap. Total hike is 1/4 mile.

BY CAR FROM DOWNTOWN--

Exit the northbound Kennedy at Pulaski, go north straight across Irving Park and turn right at the first side street, Belle Plaine Avenue. Then its one short block to the Lutheran Church and turn right onto Harding Avenue. Drive south almost to Irving Park and swing into the little parking lot on the right behind the tavern. You can come in that back door there.Total drive is 3/8 mile.

 BY CAR FROM THE NORTH--

Exit the southbound Edens or Kennedy at Irving/Keeler, and be in the left lane on the downramp. Turn left onto northbound Keeler, go under the highway and make a sudden right turn by the Presbyterian Church. Take that side street, Belle Plaine Avenue three short blocks to Pulaski and go straight across Pulaski. Then go one more block and turn right by my old church. Take Harding Avenue south nearly to Irving Park and swerve right for the Tap's parking lot. Total drive is 1/2 mile.
