Welcome to the CBG Monthly Windy City Rides!

We will meet at the parking lot on McCormick Blvd. that is SOUTH of Dempster Street. This location has facilities and a couple of picnic tables. The ride will depend on the wind direction. If there is a North wind, we will ride up to Central Avenue and Green Bay Road in Highland Park. If there is a South wind, we will ride down to North Avenue Beach in Chicago. Either roundtrip is about 24 miles.

The ride direction will be announced at the Meetup; it will be based on that morning's 9AM weather report.

Plan on a 12-14 mph pace. We can split into "faster" and "slower" groups if the ride is large enough. Much of either route includes street riding.  There are food places and a bike shop at either halfway point.

The ride will proceed as long as there is no active rain...

Helmets and signed waivers are absolutely necessary.

What to bring with you:

1. A bicycle in good working order. Almost any type of bicycle will do. Remember to properly fill the tires with air. And bring a spare tube.

2. Filled water bottles.

3. An energy bar, or similar.

4. A helmet.

5. A bicycle lock.

6. ID card.

7. Some money for food, etc. if desired.

8. Sun screen.

9. Sun glasses.

Most important, bring enthusiasm!

After this ride, we can proceed to Emma's Bagel Cafe on Gross Point and Skokie Blvd. for lunch. They installed new bike racks at our request!!!

Three hardy souls, a bit chilly, and I had a major brakedown. A great ride!

Sunday's forecast looks good! I am just out of shape a bit, so the ride might be slower than usual. :-)

Well, gang, I don't know... Forecast has temps in the mid-20s and still a 10mph north wind. What say you all?

Still not sure if I have to work Sunday.... Wind bothers me more than cold.... And the forecast changes every few hours.... I'd wait another day or two before deciding....

Hey Gary, are you sticking with the 9:45 start time for the time being?

So far... But, once again, the forecast does not look good. Cold temps and a north wind. I am too old to enjoy freezing off my a## on a bicycle.

I concur! Depending on source, below 32 degrees with 13 mph winds. Brrrr... I work the following weekend, but hopefully that will bring more warmth to the next one. In the mean time, back on my Kirk Kinetic trainer! Heating duct right next to the bike!

    Can't make it this Sunday.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
