Come celebrate RAGBRAI (Larry)

If anyone has ever heard me talk about RAGBRAI and wondered why I do it every year....  Or if you heard about it somewhere else and wanted some information on it....  Here's a chance to hear what all the fuss is about from TJ Juskiewic (the director of RAGBRAI) and Greg Borzo (the author of RAGBRAI, America's Favorite Bicycle Ride)....  The following is from the flyer that Greg e-mailed me....  But I can't upload the flyer, so I copied the text here....

Come celebrate RAGBRAI

the Register’s Great Annual Bicycle Ride Across Iowa,

the world’s largest, longest and oldest bicycle touring event.

Come see why it’s so popular and on so many bucket lists.

Thurs., Feb. 27, 2014, 6:00 pm

Harold Washington Library, 400 S. State St.

Whether you’ve done RAGBRAI dozens of times,

always thought about doing it, or are just curious…

experience RAGBRAI through this lavishly illustrated PowerPoint presented by:

TJ Juskiewicz, RAGBRAI Director, and Greg Borzo,

author of the new book RAGBRAI, America’s Favorite Bicycle Ride.

Author of the popular Chicago “L” and Where to Bike Chicago, Borzo has gathered hundreds of stories that reveal the essence of RAGBRAI, which has attracted thousands of cyclists from Chicagoland.

The event will include a FREE RAFFLE that gives away:

a certificate for $500 off any VBT trip; a one-year DIVVY membership;

an MB Financial Bank Bike the Drive registration; and other great prizes.

So who actually made it there besides Larry and myself? C'mon. Be honest.

Bummer. I had some tour save-the-date cards out and was walking around with an in-training shirt. Would have been nice to have had another body there flying the colors.

Hi, I can't attend the meeting but I do intend on riding for a few of the days. Has someone started a 'group' for registration? Alternatively, can someone suggest a group.

We do not have a group from the CBG doing RAGBRAI together.... There is a Lake County Cycling group that has a group going together.... They use a charter service for the their support, but I do not know if the charter supports riders who aren't doing the full week.... You can usually find a team with an open spot on their bus that will support a rider for a few days for a fee....

I read about this event a couple of weeks ago. I wish I could attend this event but I already have committed to something else that evening. Sure wish the talk could be held somewhere in the suburbs!! Am seriously considering participating in the RAGBRAI this year.

I just found out yesterday that Greg is also giving a presentation for the Bicycle Club of Lake County Tuesday night that is open to the public.... As far as I know TJ won't be there.... I'm THINKING about going to that as well.... Also, if you have any questions about RAGBRAI, I have done 5 of the last 6 of them....

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
