Apple Cider Century - hosted by Joe Green

Joe Green will be hosting this ride

http://www.applecidercentury.com/index.html

This year's ride is on Sunday September 30th.

Apple Cider Century (ACC) is an annual one-day 15, 25, 37, 50, 62, 75 or 100 mile bicycle tour of the orchards, forests and wine country in and around Three Oaks, Michigan. The ACC is a recreational and social tour for bicyclists. It is neither a race nor a test of stamina. It is intended that all participants ride the tour in a safe and intelligent manner.

Since 1974, it has become the Midwest's largest one-day century event with 6,000 cyclists participating in 2011. The Apple Cider Century is sponsored by the Three Oaks Spokes Bicycle Club. Monies raised are used to finance the Apple Cider Century Tour, the Backroads Bikeway trails, the League of American Bicyclists, Rails to Trails, donations to the Three Oaks Historical Museum antique bicycle display and to help fund community youth programs and other non-profit organization fund raising causes.

From September 1974 – 1979 the Apple Cider Century tour was held within the Village of Three Oaks. As our ride grew, we relocated 3 miles north to River Valley High School in 1980. After a 26 year hiatus, the Apple Cider Century has returned to where it began. We’re proud of our town and look forward to having you as guests to enjoy all that we have to offer.

The Village of Three Oaks is located in Berrien County, Michigan, approximately 60 miles from Chicago and Kalamazoo. Follow I-94 to exit 4 (US-12). Go East 5 miles to Three Oaks. Signs and security personnel will direct you to the start & finish location, now located at the Three Oaks Elementary School. The school is located on U.S. 12, in the East part of the village.

The weekend of the Apple Cider Century provides many interesting events Saturday and all you can eat breakfast and spaghetti dinner on Sunday. Come celebrate 38 years of touring!

Hi Mitch (and All). I hope you had a great ride! I saw your comment about a "jersey". How many of you would be interested in buying a jersey with the CBG logo or something similar. The follow up question: how much would you be willing to spend on it? Volume is key.

    October 6, 2012

    • Larry G

I would be interested in one.... I'm used to seeing jerseys in the $50-70 range.... Also, I know of a few places that will do custom jerseys.... (We would have to supply the artwork....) One in particular in Wisconsin has some pretty low minimums.... I have a jersey that they made and have been happy with the quality....

I would too. In fact, it would be nice to choose from several. Are there any artists in our group? On the business side, it seems that if the artwork was provided to a preferred supplier for all purchases, then they would take care of minimum order quantities. The volume would be high at first but continue on a sole source basis for that design. Of course with a price guarantee....

At this point, I am not having much luck finding transportation to the event. So if anyone can give me a ride, I would truly appreciate it. Otherwise, I am happy to sell my registration at the reduced rate I paid for it. Please email me offline for either. Thanks very much.

I'm leaving Old Town Sunday morning before the ride and returning right after the ride. My wife will be doing the driving. Also, Amtrak stops in New Buffalo, which is really close to Three Oaks.

      September 21, 2012

Very cool event but due to my trip coming back I can't make it. You all should have a great time!

    September 16, 2012

I was planning on doing this ride with a friend but something came up. So I have two entries for sale - they are transferable. Just let me know if you're interested!

    September 8, 2012

I'm interested in taking one of those 2 entries.

Hi, Richard I have one entry still available. The cost was $45 and it is an old fashioned entry via snail mail. I have a piece of paper which is your entry (they are transferable- you just need the golden ticket although it is green). You take this ticket to registration on Sat from 10am - 10pm or Sun from 6am - 12 noon. Let me know if this still works for you! Thanks, Shaun PS I am happy to scan you one of the pages so that you know it is legit.

Given the number of people planning on staying the night before, is there anyone interested in sharing lodging expenses?

    September 15, 2012

  • Richard G.

Are most people who are participating planning on staying there Saturday night? I hadn't planned on that, but definitely interested if a large number of people are planning to and recommend it. I could also be interested in sharing lodging charges.

    September 11, 2012

  • kelly W.

Joe both sound like good places. So whatever u like.

    September 5, 2012

  • kelly W.

    That works for me.

    September 5, 2012

  • kelly W.

    Is there any place closer?

    September 5, 2012

  • kelly W.

Nice!! Yeah I just did the super8 that Joe is at. I can't stay 2 nights. I have 2 dogs, that cost me a mint. Lol. I could only wish! I can't wait to meet everyone. I'm not sure for dinner. I have no clue what's around
