Forest Ecology Series - Part 2 Intro to Forest Ecology

This series will give you a sound introduction to forest ecosystems and how they function. Anyone interested in learning how to design an edible forest garden is encouraged to take this series. When you understand how a forest system functions, you can maximize the potential of the ecological systems you design. Courses will be led by Casey Sullivan, Natural Resources Manager at Argonne National Laboratory.

7:00-9:00 PM Friday, July 26: (FES 2)

Introduction to Forest Ecology – Forest Walk

Begin the study of forest ecology and systems as we walk through Black Partridge Woods in Lemont, IL. You will be introduced to the ecological principles that govern forests and the applications of those principles to the management and conservation of forests. These concepts and issues are at the core of the critical struggle to find a balance between using and preserving the diversity of the natural world. We will practice tree and plant identification as we learn the art of observing and reading the forest systems. This is the second of the three part Forest Ecology Series. Class will be held rain or shine, please come prepared. Fee: $30
