Given the response received so far I've decided to cancel the event for tomorrow. If anyone made plans on their own to go to the garden I encourage you to still go and enjoy the festivities.

Perhaps in a couple of seasons, with warmer weather, more of us will find the motivation to go spend a day out in the open.

If anyone is into slow travel, doesn't have a car and don't mind public transportation, I'd suggest considering taking the very nice, 44-minute Metra train ride (Union Pacific North Line) to the Braeside station (not the Glencoe stop which says Chicago Botanic Garden -well, unless the CBG trolley is there- you may want to call CBG and check for details in advance). Walk about 20 minutes downhill to CBG's entrance. About two long blocks with a nice size sidewalk - on one side.

It's often cheaper at $7-8 to get a weekend pass at the train station or the $4-5 for a one-way ticket. The passes are much more per person if you get them on the train. It's pretty popular with kids it seems. I often see families with children getting off the train and walking down to CBG. Bikes are allowed on the train and at CBG. Very comfortable.

Getting there and away: the train schedule is found at RTA's website: www.rtachicago.com.

Happy Hollow's Eve and All Saints Day.

I appreciate your post, Patricia. In addition, I can confirm that the Trolley service runs on Sundays from May 12 to September 1 according to the CBG website.
