Chicagoland Permaculture Meetup is co-sponsoring a great lecture and identification hike with meetup group Foraging and Herbs. To RSVP for this event you'll need to join the other group and pay/rsvp there. Cost is $15 per person, children under age 15 are free.
Join outdoor writer Joe McFarland and internationally known mycologist Gregory Mueller for an exciting afternoon learning about wild Illinois mushrooms.
The authors of 'Edible Wild Mushrooms of Illinois' will give a one-hour presentation about mushrooms that we are likely to find in our region, how to safely identify them, and how to find them. And then we'll be out the door and into the woods to find and identify mushrooms! Mushroom specimens will be collected for identification and teaching purposes only - but you'll leave the class with the skills and confidence to begin foraging and harvesting on your own.
Following the class you'll have the opportunity to purchase copies of McFarland and Mueller's book for $5 off the list price.
This event is sponsored by The Center for Urban Environmental Research and Policy at Loyola University of Chicago. We are very grateful for their generous support for this event!
