Should I post the Friday sparring? Ingo, can you give me a heads up as to
whether it is open to the members at large, or if you would like to cap it
at a certain number of visitors.

Just trying to make sure we don't disturb your school. I know you guys had
mentioned this Friday at 6:30, so just let me know.

Very wise words!! Many times it is difficult to put value on classes and
instructions without giving it an honest try. If you are interested in
Tai Chi you should go and find out for yourself.

PS: If you are looking for a place for sparring training (open room), I
may be able to help. It is on Superior and Halsted. Let me know if you
want more information.

helios... you can eat Mcdonalds much cheaper than going to a fine
restaurant, too, and you will still get full

as far as learning "only" once a week:

in my limited experience, the delimiting factor in a students progress
is the amount he or she practices, not the amount of time he or she
receives instruction. furthermore the quality of instruction varies.

it seems to me that it is beneficial to differentiate between classes
and practice.if one relies solely on former, one has little chance to
succeed (in martial arts or otherwise). what use is going 7 days a week
if one never practices? in college, if you just go to the lecture, yet
don't study, it will be hard to pass the final exam.

in that one hour, if you practiced more in the previous week, you could
learn more..

as far as the money, this is like talking to a gorgeous lady whose email
you happened across from a mutual friend.

she wants to go somewhere fancy, but since you can't see her, you
aren't sure she is beautiful. you are unsure you want to spend that kind
of money. why not just take her out to eat... if she wasn't beautiful,
or it didnt work... it's not like you have to marry her.

but what if she was gorgeous and you passed up the chance because you
didn't want to pay the bill ?

just a hypothetical for you ...

Agreed. I know that in Bridgeport, specifically in McGuane park, there's
a man who offers Tai Chi classes, every morning from 8-9, for $20 a
month. He's a very good teacher too, only hindrance is that he speaks
primarily Cantonese Chinese, so English communication can be hampered,
however I know there is one American student who does just fine still.
