very well said Diana, martial arts is for martial artists and not free loaders. if you dont like to pay then obviously you dont value what martial art is all about and what your peers can offer or help you with. i understand the times are kinda hard...but come on! $10...thats cheap! try joining a martial arts school and see how much it will cost you? this is the next best thing if you are a serious actually get to see different types of martial arts.

support the arts. if you cant afford regular and classes this is a great alternative....or do you really think you're that good that you dont need to pay? :)

First, I want to once again clarify. Seriously people....

This is not JUST AN MMA GROUP. Repeat....NOT JUST MMA. This is a martial arts group, which means it is open to people who train in ANY of the combat arts. In the past, we have had Tai Chi stylists, Wing Chun, Hapkido, Karate, Ninjitsu, etc.

I myself have a background in kung fu, kickboxing, a little karate, and even less TKD. Not to mention my awesome 6 weeks of grappling.

MMA people just seem to show up more.

Second, YES, there are women. Me, the group organizer, has always been a woman. My partner MJ, also a woman. So other women are certainly more than welcome.

Third. And I'm going to say this as plainly as possible - I am not interested in paying room rent for people who say they will show up and don't, wasting my time. I also don't want to play games with people who knew quite well that there is a cost, and that we split that cost with the other members.

So that being said, if you don't have your $10, you will not be allowed to participate. Two weeks in a row now, I have to hear about not having change. It's 10 bucks people. Bring it. Like I said, if 10 people show, the cost drops to $5. So if $10 is too much, then I suggest bringing a friend/training partner.

You are all adults, and presumably martial artists, so I would ask everyone to act as such. If you say you are coming, then show up. If you know there is a cost, don't show up empty handed. I am a single mom, and while I love the martial arts and meeting/training with others, I won't continue to pay if others aren't interested in pursuing the goals of the group.
