It's kinda like speed-dating; but if things go well, you'll sleep in separate beds.
How it works: Just show up, slap on a nametag, and mingle with your new roommates. There will be drinks and your friendly Flatmate Meetup staff to help get the conversations going.
The target end time for this event is 9pm.

There was a very diverse crowd which was great. I met a lot of interesting people and people who were in the exact same boat as me. I did find (what I thought) was a great roommate, we clicked really well. Unfortunatley he bailed on me the day he was supposed to move in. Weird!! But it was a good try.

Very friendly people. Wish there were more people though.

One of the attendees mentioned that she's a single parent of a 3-year old child and is interested in someone joining her place. I don't remember the attendee's name, but here is an ad that I found about another single parent of a 3-year old child looking for a place (seems like a perfect match, doesn't it?):http://chicago.craigslist.org/c...

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
