Our first ever Friday on turf, with lights!

  • Oct 6, 2006 · 6:00 PM
  • Montrose Park

I am sending this to everyone in the group, although it only applies to about 25 or so people. I will only send it to everyone this one time, so please accept my apologies this time around! OK... here we go! This is our first Friday event on turf, with lights, goals and nets, up at the same Montrose park we we were playing at on Wednesday! We will be there every Friday in October. We will meet at 6pm by the bleachers next to the turf field, just so I can collect any last money owing, take a list of people there, etc. We will then start playing at 6.30pm, until 8.30pm. If you are playing this Friday, you should have already paid me the $8. This is because I have to pay the Lincoln Park Cultural Center in advance, to get the permit. If you RSVP 'Yes' to this, and you haven't paid, please detail so actually in the RSVP message. I am expecting 20 to 25 people to RSVP 'Yes'. Here is the link to a map of the field:
http://maps.google.co... Lastly, this is how I want our Friday nights to go (and please feel free to contact me with any questions or issues): Once I know exactly who is coming on Friday (I have a pretty good idea already), I am going to split everyone into two teams. I will do this based on the skill levels of people, and mix it up as best I can. Once I have done this, I will try to pick two team captains (see how much power I have?!) I will email everyone who has RSVP'd with who is on your team, and who the captains are. I will then expect that team to communicate with each other about strengths and weaknesses, positions, formations, etc (basically anything you want). Those two teams will then play each other four times in October. We will play best of four games! Now, I understand some people will be coming in and out, and the teams won't be 100% the same every time, but I want the central core of the teams to be the same. Ball hogging and 'being a hero' will be severly frowned upon. Everyone on the team should play an integral part of the game. Everyone should get good touches of the ball. You will have to understand we will be playing with a fairly mixed bunch (although, most people are of a decent standard). Even though these games will be slightly competitive, competition is not the most important thing here. Playing soccer while have fun IS the most important thing. There should be as much laughing on Fridays as there is on a Sunday! Lastly, if you haven't RSVP'd 'Yes' on here, you will not be able to just turn up and play. This isn't just a 'Pickup' game. This is an organized game where we'll want to know who is turning up! That's all for now...! More will be coming soon on the Message Board. Please RSVP 'Yes' as soon as possible. If you are not coming, you do not need to RSVP 'No'. Please feel free to email anytime to chat, or call me on[masked]-2023. Looking forward to it....!!

I liked the fluidity of being able to try different positions due to subbing out.

An organizational success. Great times, great people. Congrats to the Friday Night Freaks for their victory! 3 more to go!
