We've all heard it before- Figaro! Figaro! Figaro! But no, this isn't your Saturday morning Tom & Jerry; this is a FREE 30-minute concert in downtown Chicago. As part of their Summer Concert Series, Rush Hour Concerts presents Lyric Shorts: Rossini's The Barber of Seville- a perfect taste of the opera for newcomers and a condensed version of a beloved performance for classical music buffs.
Mezzo-soprano J'nai Bridges, tenor John Irvin, and baritone Will Liverman of The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago perform solo and as a trio, accompanied by pianist Alan Darling; Lyric Opera dramaturg Roger Pines narrates the humorous story of love and deception.
This is an awesome opportunity to meet other members and mingle at the FREE pre-concert reception at 5:15 p.m. before the performance at 5:45 p.m.
The concert will take place at St. James Cathedral (65 E. Huron). Rush Hour Concerts will provide a row for the group.
Rush Hour Concerts' series runs every Tuesday through August, so if you can't make this show, consider meeting up for any of the next Tuesday concerts through August 27! All FREE.
