Latino Music Festival: Ancient and New

A free concert at Pritzker Auditorium at the Harold Washington Public Library, 400 S. State St. Chicago, IL



Dal Niente’s first performance at Chicago’s Latino Music Festival features the ensemble’s acclaimed soprano Carrie Henneman Shaw in a diverse program of ancient and new music that celebrates composers of Latin American descent.

Noche Haze Escura (Spanish villancico) arr. for voice and cello by Chace Wall

Mauricio Pauly (b.1976): Apartamento Polsen Apartamento Peterson (2013) for saxophone, cello, and piano (U.S. PREMIERE)

Marcos Balter (b. 1974): ignis fatuus (2008) for solo violin

Jocy de Oliviera (b.1936): Who Cares if She Cries I (2000/2003) for soprano and cello

Ileana Velazquez (b.1964): Del Falso Amor Impuro (2013) for soprano, saxophone, violin, percussion, and piano
