Having enjoyed the open gaming meetups hosted by Clifford and David, I plan on holding one of my own on Saturday, August 10th. Anyway, here's the rundown:
Time & Place
-680 S. Federal St Chicago, IL 60605 Unit 601
There is a buzzer downstairs which is tied to my cell phone. Just punch in the 3 digit number linked to my name and I'll buzz you in. I'm up on the 6th floor in unit 601.
-Two 60" high definition displays, each equipped with 5.1 channel speaker systems
The Hardware (number of controllers in parentheses)
-Wii (4), Xbox 360 (3), Playstation 3 (3), Gaming PC, Playstation 2 (2), Xbox, Nintendo 64 (2), 3DS, DS Lite
The Software (I've listed some cool multiplayer games, but I have many more)
-Super Smash Brothers Brawl (w/ Project M), Super Smash Brothers Melee, Little Big Planet 1 & 2, Halo Reach, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Geometry Wars 2, Super Street Fighter IV, Blazblue: Continuum Shift, Goldeneye 007 (N64 & Wii), Perfect Dark (N64 & XBLA), Mario Kart Double Dash, Super Monkey Ball 2, Guardian Heroes (XBLA), Timesplitters Future Perfect, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Ikaruga
-Everyone is more than welcome to bring along his or her favorite games and/or consoles. Also, any additional controllers would be appreciated.
-I'll provide snacks and drinks. There's a plethora of restaurants around me including pizza and thai food. You guys can let me know what kind of food you want in the comments below. If we order dinner I'm asking people to contribute $5 each.
-Car: Parking in the South Loop is not exactly ideal, but it's tolerable if you carpool with at least one other person to divy up the parking cost. There is typically street parking available just outside of my place on Federal or Dearborn. Street parking is free after 10 p.m. but, until then, it runs at the rate of $3 an hour or so. Alternatively, there are some parking lots within a block or two in pretty much every direction from my place which run at different rates. I always feel badly about people having to park near my place so let me know if you have no other way of getting here and I can at least cover your food costs.
-CTA: My condo is within 5 minutes walking distance of all applicable CTA trains. Blue (LaSalle), Red (Harrison), Brown/Orange/Green/Pink (Harold Washington Library)
-Metra: My place is within 5 minutes of the LaSalle St. Metra station, 15 minutes of Union Station, and 20 minutes of Ogilvie Station. Additionally, I'm about 10 minutes from the nearest Metra Electric Line stop (Van Buren).
