The Nine Of Clock News must be delivered

After a fun meeting where we discussed the dual book choices of the Life boast and Dance with Death, we have chosen the books for the next two months. The book for the next meeting (July ) is Human Voices by Penelope Fitzgerald which is set around voices of the BBC in World War II.

The book for the following meeting was the second choice which was pipped by one vote. The book for the following meeting is The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman.

The other suggestions voted on were:-

Birdman by Mo Hayder

Morinings in Jenin by Susan Abulhawa

Under the Skin by Michel Faber

There were also four suggestions which were not voted on as they had already been read and these were:-

Armadillo by William Boyd

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Winter in Madrid by C J Sansom

The French Lieutenants Woman - John Fowles

Hello. I have badly hurt my ankle today and neither Debbie or I can make this meeting. Could someone please organise the date for the next one. Thanks

Sorry I can't make it tonight due to unforeseen circumstances. Not very good form, especially as I nominated the book. Those same circumstances mean that I am only half way through 'Human Voices' but I am thoroughly enjoying it. I can only apologise to those of you who didn't get on with it.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
