Introduction
I really like to help other people get stated raising chickens! Chickens make great pets! They are so much fun to watch, pet, and play with... not to mention I love the eggs! I also like to garden so I can have fresh vegetables in the kitchen!
What breed of chickens do you own?
We started out as only RIR owners, but as we started helping others begin their own flock, we learned more about other breeds. Now, we have RIR, Americaunas, ISA Browns, a Buff, a Silver Lace Wyanndotte, Silkies and Seramas. We have a little bit of everything!
How many chickens do you own?
I own 20 + chickens at this time.
What do you like most about owning chickens?
There is so much to love about chickens. I love to watch them play in the yard. I love to collect fresh organic eggs... and eat them! We've just recently done a lot of hatching and I never get over how miraculous it is!
How long have you owned chickens?
When I was little I had chickens in the backyard, but I did not find my passion for them until about 5 years ago, when Andy brought some home to surprise me. I sent him back to the feed and seed the next week to get more and we haven't stopped yet!
How many people (other than yourself) have you helped get started owning chickens?
Andy and I have helped many people get started raising chickens! We enjoy meeting new and old chicken owners. Everyone is so nice! I also get my kindergarten students interested in chickens when we incubate eggs in the classroom. They love it!
