Make Your Own Adventure - Gail Swanson

As you look to progress in your career, you may be stumped on how to find opportunities to move upward. You may be waiting for the people in your organization to recognize your efforts with a promotion, and feel like your future is in someone else's hands. Indeed, all of us have the power to generate opportunities for ourselves by smartly investing our own sweat equity. And through the process, you will create your own careerequity, develop yourself as a leader, and pay it forward. Gail will share her own career investment steps (and missteps) as well as her journey growing into leadership. She will also discuss the challenges of having a demanding career (which she loves), and the adventures of being a female breadwinner, while juggling being a mom.

About Gail:

Experience Designer Gail Swanson is known for her multidimensional design approach and open-hearted style. Her work spans many industries and covers the breadth of the digital playground. She leads creative teams as Associate Creative Director of Experience Design at SapientNitro in Chicago. Gail is an occasional speaker and blogger on UX topics at UX BoothUX Magazine, and her own blog practicallyUX.com. You can follow her on twitter @practicallyUX. She strongly believes in Agile and Lean UX, spontaneous workplace sing-a-longs, and cartwheels in the workplace.

About the Event:

Our generous hosts at SapientNitro will be providing drinks and snacks, so there will be plenty of time and excuses for Q&A and networking before and after our feature presentation. We are excited to see you and your friends, so please spread the word!

I am so excited to attend! I was in the Peace Corps where I worked with many women's issues, and I really look forward to getting to know folks who care about these things back here at home. Thanks for letting me attend as an ally!
