Hey guys. I gotta back out. I am really sick. I am coughing and sneezing like crazy. I thought it might just be allergies, but it's not. Don't want to make everyone else sick. I'm considering maybe participating from home but I feel like crap. Sorry I was really looking forward to this. Good luck everyone! :(

Hey everyone, made it at the last minute, would it be possible to bring a guest who won't be participating in the jam?

Hi Elijah, Since conference room space is limited to 20. We will have to give priority seating to participants. The common area outside of the conference room is on a first come, first served basis. You are welcome to bring your friend, but do understand conference room seating is for the jammers. Thanks for asking.

Hi Momoti, C# and Unity are welcome skills at game jams. The kick-off video with keynote speaker and theme will be presented between 5 and 5:30 pm. Introductions, idea development and pitches will take place after keynote and theme announcement. There won't be a problem getting you started at 6 pm. Welcome to your first game jam!

Damn, unfortunately I am enlisted(i.e. a job I don't really want but one that allows me a scant existence) to monitor a gathering of concert attendees. I certainly would enjoy creating stuff with you folks rather than spectating in a security role while people lose their minds to music.

    January 23, 2014

    • Jason S.

That sounds like a good idea, even if it just a gopher role. I have been making progress learning Blender and getting ready to jump into some Unity coding. Not sure how I would hold up in a trail by fire scenario, since it has been years since I did any real coding. Coding has changed greatly in my estimation, it seems to be more about leveraging library classes and functions and API knowledge than brewing that stuff from the ground up. So possibly it has gotten easier I suppose.

Hey Jason, That's the beauty of game jams. Everyone is supposed to be working from ground level building a game. You have experience with coding so that's great for figuring things out and troubleshooting.

Hi guys, I am a Unity3D developer, I also have some 3D animation and modeling skills. This is the first time I am participating game jam, are we supposed to team up or individuals can also do it?
Looking forward to meet everybody, here is my portfolio : http://oadabuk.tumblr.com/

Hi Oz! Really enjoyed your portfolio site. I can't wait to see Alien Slayer completed. It looks like fun. Reminds me of Chicago. Does it take place there? Would love to hear about the slot machine engine and how the back end works. Awesome stuff! Look forward to meeting you this weekend.

Thanks PMac! Alien Slayer is not currently taking place in Chicago but if I can get my hands on some nice 3D models of Chicago buildings and streets, why not :)

Good luck to everyone representing Chicago at GGJ 2014! Sadly, I won't be able to participate. My skill set lies in higher level conceptual design and player experience. Also, music and sound. Look forward to future meet-ups!

Ala' , Sorry you can't make it. If you do find some extra time, please drop in and offer some insight and assistance. Your skills with music, sound and player experience would be very useful and appreciated!

Thanks, PMac. I'll see if I can make it.

What is Going on Everyone, Name is Jan you can Call me Jay. Guess I'll get the niceties out.

I've mainly a CG/Animation Specialist. If you ever need someone who knows how to make something in CG and animate it, i'm your guy.

I Know Maya and Zbrush like the back of my hand I will crank out as many assets and animation clips as soon as I get the concept.

I've worked on a couple of game engines like Unity, Unreal so I'm used to working in those environment when i get my hands on them. Of course I can also get used to any open source engines . I have enough basics in coding to get by but nothing extraordinary.

Since I just finished working on some personal things here and I need new stuff for the portfolio, I figured this would be a great chance to get back into the development side.

Anyways, I look forward to making something with you guys.

    Hi all!

I'm new to this group, so if it is helpful, I thought I'd talk a bit about what I can do. I'm in game audio, and have a broad familiarity with the various aspects of sound in games, having worked as sound designer, composer, voice actor, and implementer. I'm getting pretty good with code, having built small games in Unity 3D, and worked professionally on an HTML5 game. I'd love to help out in any way I can.
