Mexic-Arte Museum presents its 27th Annual Dia de los Muertos Procession. Join the Austin Chinatics Ghost Army as we help lead the grand procession for the fifth straight year. BE THERE BY 5:30 at latest, procession starts at 6:00!! Following the Procession, the Celebration festivities include traditional food and drink, art, community altars to remember and honor loved ones, and a showcase of exciting live music. We invite you to use innovation, pageantry, dazzle, and imagination!
WHAT? Viva la Vida Fest celebrating the 27th Annual Día de los Muertos.
WHEN? Saturday, October, 23, 2010 (Festival is 2-10 PM at 5th & Congress)
WHERE? Procession gathers at Plaza Saltillo at 5th & Comal in East Austin at 5 PM, and departs for Mexic-Arte Museum at 6 PM.
HOW LONG? Procession route is approx. 1 mile and lasts for 1 hour. Bring bottled water, preferably in re-usable container. No glass allowed.
PARKING & TRANSPORTATION? Street parking available near Plaza Saltillo. You can return to your car via cab, pedicab, or Capital Metro Bus.
GUIDELINES (to participate, you must read and agree to all of these):
1.Each designated section will walk from the beginning and must stay together for the entire length.
2.Children under 18 must be supervised by adults at all times.
3.NO alcoholic beverages are permitted.
4.NO glass containers.
5.NO disorderly conduct offensive to families.
6.NO candles or fire.
