What are your favorite Chinese dishes and foods?

mapo dofu, yuxiang qiezi, disanxian, kaoya

How would you describe your level of Chinese? (Eg it's my native language OR I don't speak it OR I learned some dialect from my family but little Mandarin, OR I can speak a few words, simple conversations, etc.)

I used to speak decent Mandarin, but I've forgotten a lot of it.

What kind of events and activities would you be interested in? What would you like to do at our events?

Language study

What could this group provide for you that no other Meetup could?

Higher-level language study

Where did you grow up? How did you learn Chinese? Tell us your story.

I was born and raised in a tiny town in Northern Michigan. When I went to college, I needed to study a language. My roommate was Chinese, so I decided to study Chinese. I ended up majoring in it and living in Beijing for 2.5 years.

I majored in Chinese and lived in China for two years. I currently work at a non-profit based in DC, doing nothing related to China. I'm joining because I don't want to forget my language skills.
