What are your favorite Chinese dishes and foods?

Sweet and sour pork, Mongolian beef and Peking duck.

How would you describe your level of Chinese? (Eg it's my native language OR I don't speak it OR I learned some dialect from my family but little Mandarin, OR I can speak a few words, simple conversations, etc.)

Total beginner.

What kind of events and activities would you be interested in? What would you like to do at our events?

The events you are doing right now are great, especially learning about China's provinces.

What could this group provide for you that no other Meetup could?

This meetup is the next best thing to actually going to China. No need to apply for a visa and the commute is much shorter.

Where did you grow up? How did you learn Chinese? Tell us your story.

I grew up in New Mexico and Southern California. I also lived near San Francisco which has a famous Chinatown. My parents got me interested in China since I was a kid. My mother has traveled there several times and my stepfather lived in Tianjin. I visited China two years ago and it was more than just a trip. It was an amazing adventure.

It was great meeting everyone in April and learning about Hebei Province.
