What are your favorite Chinese dishes and foods?

Mmmm, jiaozi; niu rou mian, hui guo rou, and many others.

How would you describe your level of Chinese? (Eg it's my native language OR I don't speak it OR I learned some dialect from my family but little Mandarin, OR I can speak a few words, simple conversations, etc.)

I am comfortable in conversational Mandarin, and can use it professionally to a certain degree.

What kind of events and activities would you be interested in? What would you like to do at our events?

What could this group provide for you that no other Meetup could?

I like the concept of using Chinese in a toastmasters club.

Where did you grow up? How did you learn Chinese? Tell us your story.

I grew up in many places, including New York and Tokyo, but Seattle is where I call home. I studied Chinese primarily in Taiwan, and learned a little Taiwanese, too.

I have lived, studied and worked in Taiwan and China. Chinese language and culture has been a passion and strong influence in my life. For the last 20 years or so I have worked on environmental policy issues.
