14th February 2010 is the first day of the Year of the Tiger, and to celebrate the occasion, we are holding a special CNY Dinner at Rasa Sayang. The restaurant has worked out a special CNY menu for the event:
Tossing of Prosperity Salad ‘YuSheng’ (traditional raw fish salad)
Steamed Cod Fish in Sweet Soya Sauce covered with Crispy Ginger
Special buttered Tiger Prawns with a hint of hot spice
Traditional Singapore Chili Crab
‘Loh Hon Jai’- vegetarian Mushrooms, Black Fungus, Foo Pei and Vegetables
Traditional Teochew Braised Duck served with Egg and Beancurd
Fried Nian Gao (New Year cake) sandwiched with yam and sweet potato
Tong Yuen Herbal Soup
The cost is £30 per person inclusive of tea and service charge. This is higher than our usual event cost, but it is a special occasion and I think it is well worth it!
As 14th February is also Valentine's Day, the restaurant is likely to be busy, so we can only occupy the basement area of the restaurant. Seating will be in groups of 6-8. This means that realistically speaking we are restricted to a maximum of 40 people, so on this occasion I have to exclude Maybe replies and may also need to ask for an advance deposit to secure your place. Please RSVP early!
This event was originally organised for members of the Singaporean and Malaysian groups (I was planning a separate event for the Chinese Gastronomic Group), but observing the success of previous joint meetups I have decided to open this up to you all as well, as the dinner is to celebrate Chinese New Year and good Chinese food!
