RE: [chinesemed-62] Pao Zhi Medicine - Dr. Henry McCann

     Hello Meet Up Group;

     I guess it is time to "pop off" about the subject of Gua Sha and
Cupping. Why is it that these two modalities are always grouped
together? They are rather different. I think that either subject,
but not both, can be celebrated in a two hour meet up as long as we
aren't dealing with first timers. From the e-mails I've received, it
appears that understanding when to apply Gua Sha and to what
therapeutic end is the primary goal. When I was in China last time,
I met a student of a Taiwanese physician who had compiled a simple
handbook filled with gua sha prescriptions. I use this little book
often. It even has illustrations! If you can't find somebody "of
credential" then I could translate this and share it with the group.
My most common use of Gua Sha is in the treatment of pediatric fever
and in Lyme Disease. There is also another Chinese teacher in PCOM
who is good with hand gua sha.
     Just remember, there is a saying, "Never give your husband or wife
Gua Sha. Because then they will want it every day!"

     Yours truly,

     David Miller
