The Chocolate Exchange--a Food Swap

What is a Chocolate Food Swap??

This is a chance for you to make/bake/create your chocolate specialty and share it will other members of the group. Do you own a chocolate business? Are your cookies/brownies/cupcakes raved about by friends/neighbors/co-workers? Did your family pass down a great recipe for a savory chocolate dish that everyone begs you to make? Well get to it and bring it to the SWAP.

The Chocolate Food Swap is an offshoot of the Chocolate Potluck, but instead of simply sharing your dish with the group you'll be making extra portions to trade with others to take home! This event is also a chance to gather and talk about why we love chocolate so much we'd join a group to celebrate it.

Instructions:

Cook/make/bake a recipe  (or 2 different ones) that you want to show off and Swap with other people (plus extra for sampling!) You should make between 5-20 items to swap. The more you bring to swap, the more new and different items you take home!

Portion it for the event. Include a label telling us if the item happens to be vegan or vegetarian, plus tell us if it needs to be stored in the pantry or fridge and how soon it should be consumed. (If you have questions about portion sizes, please email Angela.)

Bring your goodies to the Swap Meetup in The Grotto at Sports Basement.

Sign in and set up your station with samples set out so people know what they'll be taking home.

Grab a beverage (beer and sodas provided, bring wine if you prefer it) and chat up your fellow swappers while sampling their offerings! Think about what you'd like to take home and get feedback on your samples. Get inspired by what other meetup members have brought to share.

At the appointed time we will gather for a meeting and detailed instructions. After we will break apart and sign up to "swap" with others on the papers at their swap stations.

After time is up we will begin to swap actual items. You do not have to swap with someone on your sheet, but if you both want each other's item, go for it!

Confused? Check out these links to other swaps.

There will not be a plus one for this event, because we are counting by spaces available on the table. However, if you would like to bring a spouse/child/friend, please email me. These spaces are only for people who will be bringing food to trade/exchange at the Swap!

Thanks to Sports Basement for the free meeting space! They will once again offer us a discount on the day of the event, so please sign in upon arrival and ask about it. Moderate street parking. free underground parking lot off 16th street (turn onto Florida) Muni: 27, 33, 47

Please feel free to email me with questions or ask for clarification about this event. It's gonna be a delicious event.

Thanks to those who came, it was delicious fun. I hope more people attend next time so we can all go home with more chocolate!

Really sorry to miss this. Sounds like great fun, but I'm stuck with a miserable cold! Hope to do this again sometime.

We will bring several chocolate samples; one of which is probably the worlds finest extreme sports supplement that is fortuitously in the form of portion sized chocolates.

What do you plan to swap? I will be bringing chocolate inspired teas, plus another goodie I haven't decided on yet. :)
