Our last conversation focused on the central debate between Bakunin and Marx. Is it worth it at all to participate in parliamentary democracy or to subvert it altogether?
Our member, Wayne Price wrote an essay on exactly that topic entitled "None of the Above: The Anarchist Case Against Electoralism". You can download it by clicking here: http://nchomsky.meetu....
Chomsky has said much on how best to organize and bring about change. An interview of his with Ziga Vodovnik on Anarchism addresses his views on electoral politics. You can find the whole interview here: http://www.chomsky.in....
Chomsky also addressed movement organizing in general and electoral politics in particular in his book called 'Understanding Power'. You can download the relevant excerpt by clicking here: http://nchomsky.meetu....
We'll discuss these excellent arguments!
Also, some members expressed interest in listening to (or reading) Chomsky's brilliant speech from 1970 in which he explains very specifically why he subscribes to the idea of Anarcho-syndicalism as opposed to State Socialism and State Capitalism. Here is a link to the speech: http://www.chomsky.in.... He also wrote an essay which is almost word for word the same as the speech called "Notes on anarchism". Here is a link to that essay: http://www.chomsky.in....
