Hey, does anyone know what happened downtown on the 15th? My fiancee saw a protest happening in front of the police station, and people were holding signs about separation of church and state.

BALTIMORE - Protesters against a ban on same-sex marriage hit the streets all around the country on Saturday, including in front of Baltimore's City Hall.

The protests were triggered after voters in California approved Proposition 8, making a ban on same-sex marrriage constitutional.

One couple who married in Vermont took a break from celebrating their five-year anniversary for the protest. Said Michelle Smith, "I'm glad we're here, I wish this was a protest to get a federal law passed, instead of a state law."

Nationwide, an estimated 1 million people took part in rallies and demonstrations to show their solidarity in close to 300 cities.
