If I didn't know better, I would think boardgames were genetically bred into me. I've been interested in boardgames as far back as I can remember.
The short answer is all my life. Starting with Monopoly when I was two, I've continually played boardgames. I played a lot of chess in high school, but since then I play more euro-style games. I used to collect and play CCGs.
I think my favorite game is Dominion. Their aren't too many games I dislike, but I definitely gravitate towards more complex games. I have enjoyed all the euro-style games I've played.
I'm a big fan of boardgames. I enjoy both competitive and friendly styles. This meetup group is a great way to learn and play many varied and interesting games.
As I have passed the 2 year mark for joining this group, I thought it would be worthwhile to update my group review. This group continues to be an excellent source of fun. The group dynamic is friendly and open. It does not matter your level of skill, nor your experience with boardgames. If you are unfamiliar with a game, do not worry! We are happy to teach and instruct. The gaming atmosphere is relaxed with an air of friendly competition. Many different styles of boardgames are played. Game types range from the light, short, and easy to learn games (such as Loot, Claim it, and For Sale) going all the way up to complex games that can cause your brain to ache. Most games are somewhere in between. All of the games are engaging and thought provoking. You will not see the likes of Monopoly, or Sorry cross our game tables, but the reason is that boardgames have evolved well beyond our simple childhood games. If you have any interest in playing excellent boardgames, try this Meetup.
