How did you arrive at being an atheist?

Luckily, I was not brainwashed by religion as a child. I wondered how anyone could believe in personal God who would allow babies to be defenestrated during the holocaust. Then I was given a poem by Titus Lucretius , a Roman philosopher and poet when I was 19 years old which sent me over the top. Since then I have memorized all 22 verses. It has become my mantra! I would like to share it sometime.
